Pineda hit hard early, Yankees lose 10-4 to rival Red Sox
There was certainly no lack of energy on Tuesday night. Well, Pineda allowed six runs in the first inning, and that was all the Red Sox would need.

After the first both pitchers settled down until the Yankees threated in the bottom of the fourth, as Headley reached on an infield single, and Didi Gregorius was hit by a pitch, putting two on with two outs for Ellsbury, who almost gave the Yankees a lead, but the ball was caught by Holt on the warning track.
The Red Sox also won five straight for the first time all season.
“It’s something we’re very proud of. They’re playing hard”, Rodriguez said. “We’re playing the way the Boston Red Sox are supposed to play baseball”, manager Torey Lovullo said. “Just come back and play good Yankee baseball, and we will”. For a team that was 52-66 on August 17, that would be quite an accomplishment.
“Yeah, I was in a pretty bad rut there for a while”, Porcello said.
“I kind of lose my calm out there and therefore I lost my command out there”, Chen said through an interpreter. Let’s get the regular season over with already, shall we? “That’s like our little goal”.
Pineda retired 16 of the last 18 batters he faced, but was hurt badly by his poor first inning. “I don’t know if those balls I hit are home runs anywhere else”. By the time Chase Headley ended the inning, it was 6-4.
In the meantime, Pineda’s flameout showed how flawed the Yankees can be. Pineda leaked six of the seven runs in the first inning, which included a three-run blast by Blake Swihart.
ARLINGTON, Texas – Adrian Beltre went 3-for-4, including what turned out to be a game-winning double in the fourth, to lead AL West Division-leading Texas to a badly needed win over Detroit.

Xander Bogaerts slides in safely with a run on Tuesday. Bogaerts stopped at third base.

Travis Shaw was next to come to the plate, with two runners in scoring position, and hit a slow tapper back to Pineda, who threw home but Bogaerts was able to score, a call that was confirmed after a Joe Girardi challenge.
The comfort of a six-run lead quickly vanished though, as Rick Porcello took the mound and gave up a leadoff double to Jacoby Ellsbury, followed by a Brett Gardner single.
New York Yankees right fielder Carlos Beltran (36) watches as a… With three runs now on the board, Blake Swihart chose to add three more.
In the top of the fifth, the Red Sox got an insurance run courtesy of a home run by Betts, pushing their lead to 7-4.
CHICAGO – Jeff Samardzija might not throw another pitch for Chicago, but he made sure to leave the mound at U.S. Cellular Field on a high note against Kansas City. McCann then grounded out to allow Ellsbury to score the Yankees’ first run. Beltran doubled Gardner home, and then Dustin Ackley crushed a pitch by Rick Porcello (9-14) into the rightfield stands to cut the Yankees’ deficit to 6-4.
“He woke me up a little bit”. “We were fine after that”.
The 2015 season isn’t going to go down as one to remember, but these final two months have given Red Sox fans a reason to hope.
Porcello was proud of how well he recovered.
“Yeah, I mean, to me, that was my best start of the year”, Porcello said.

In seven starts since coming off the disabled list, Porcello is 4-3 with a 3.22 earned run average. He has struck out a batter per inning, with five punchouts to every walk in that time.
