The Full Run The Jewels ‘Meow The Jewels’ Album Is Here
What originated as a magnetic joke to gain pre-order attention for RTJ2 a year ago, soon mutated into a fan-formed Kickstarter campaign after the pair had teased that for $40,000, they would remix their latest record using only cat sounds.

If the novelty of cat sounds isn’t doing it for you, take solace in how the release of Meow The Jewels means we’re a step closer to RTJ3. Meow the Jewels was initially conceived as a 1:1 remake of Run the Jewels 2 with kitties instead of beats.
The band claim that this is the first Cat Rap album clearly having forgotten about Beastie Boys’ Paws Boutique.
“Did we make the silliest, occasionally most grating possible remix album?” says El-P.
Run the Jewels is a global entity for all the boys, girls and now, cats.

“Meow The Jewels” features Snoop Dogg, Massive Attack’s 3D, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, Blood Diamonds, Boots, Zola Jesus, Just Blaze and more. That said, a few producers weren’t as strict with the rules as El-P was, and there are non-feline noises and beats in a few of the tracks. It’s ridiculous and severe. It’s everything Run The Jewels stands for. It could be the best cat album since Cat Power’s last LP.
