Canzeri has a team-best 316 yards and eight rushing TDs, just one off the national lead, heading into Saturday’s Big Ten opener at No. 19 Wisconsin (3-1).

Canzeri had 22 total carries for 115 yards in the win.
The running back had four touchdowns this week as Iowa routed North Texas by a score of 62-16. “For us to be a good football team, that’s typically how it has to go”, said Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, who matched former Badgers coach Barry Alvarez for victories by a Big Ten coach with his 119th. He averaged more than 5.0 yards per carry.
Canzeri got his first start in a bowl game as a freshman in 2011 after starter Marcus Coker was suspended. He had 494 yards a season ago and 481 in the 2013 season.
UW’s defense controlled Iowa’s running game last season and forced the Hawkeyes to attack through the air. When they’re telling you how bad you’re going to be, you’ve got to brush that aside.

“They have great balance to their offense”, said Chryst. “We had more confidence in us than anybody else did on the outside”, said Beathard. “He assumed that carrying the whole load for us, and he’s just done a really nice job”, Ferentz said.
