Veteran forwards Curtis Glencross and Devin Setoguchi were released Sunday, and defenceman Mark Fraser, a solid solider here two years ago, followed them Monday.

With 10 days until the regular season, the Leafs now have 42 players remaining on their training camp roster.

Marner had a few impressive moments at the Rookie Tournament two weeks ago and during the first week of training camp, but was always destined to return to London for another season in the OHL and a prominent spot on Team Canada’s World Junior squad in December. He was signed by the Florida Panthers after attending camp in 2013 but had the final year of his deal bought out this past summer. A four-time 20-goal scorer, he netted a career-high 43 tallies with the St. Louis Blues in 2007-08. After recording 13 goals and 22 assists last season in 71 games split between the Calgary Flames and Washington Captials, an National Hockey League team will more than likely pick Glencross up if they suffer from injury troubles. He has registered 203 tallies and 278 assists in 762 career contests with the Sharks, Bruins, Blues, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders and Panthers.

After playing 12 games with the Calgary Flames past year, Setoguchi was candid about the opportunity with the Leafs potentially being his last chance at playing in the National Hockey League.
