Apple Music is coming to China – and it’s cheap

Apple Music, which leaves its free trial period in the USA on 30th September, will allow Chinese users to enjoy their favorite tunes both from local artists like Eason Chan, Li Ronghao, JJ Lin and G.E.M.as well as global stars like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. The service will be available on Android phones this fall.

Apple’s music experts have also programmed an “abundance of playlists for any genre or activity”, in addition to creating hand-crafted radio stations powered by Apple Music’s extensive music catalog. The artist or band can share lyrics, backstage photos, videos or even release their latest song directly to fans from their iPhone. Apple Music in China features an incredible selection of local and worldwide music from all the major and many independent labels, with more music being added regularly. – App status changes for developers – Quality control updates for movies and TV providers – Book availability notices for authors and publishers – Payment return and agreement expiration notices for all providers These notifications can be managed in the Settings tab within iTunes Connect for iOS.

Apple will also offer special features like behind-the-scenes footage as part of its iTunes Extras program. This year, for the first time, Apple brought China forward into the first wave of iPhone launch markets alongside the likes of the US and United Kingdom.

After a three-month trial membership, Apple Music will cost 10 RMB per month, or about $1.60, which means it is the same price as a premium membership on Tencent’s QQ Music.

Apple is also giving away a free download of recent hit film The Taking of Tiger Mountain in China. Purchased books are available anytime on customers’ Apple devices. There will also be a family plan providing service for up to six family members available for just 15 RMB/month.

Movies on iTunes will start at 5 yuan (80 cents) for an HD rental, and 18 yuan ($2.80) to purchase new releases in HD.

A few books will be free for download on the store, while others will start at RMB 0.5 (US$0.08).
