Samsung Tizen specs, features: Will sync with Gear S2

Samsung announced this morning that its new round smartwatches, the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic, will be available for purchase on Friday, October 2. Both Apple and Motorola offer different size options for its watches. The watch will cost $299 for the original version and $349 for the higher end S2 Classic. When paired with a Samsung Galaxy phone, the S2 can also handle contactless payments through Samsung Pay.

Samsung’s first smartwatch with a round face is coming to America.

Samsung claims that the battery can last up to 2-3 days.

At launch, the Gear S2 will be available through Samsung.com, Amazon.com, Best Buy and Macy’s.

The Samsung Gear S2 has been making waves in the smartwatch market and was reportedly sold out within two hours of being opened for preorders in the company’s home market of South Korea.

The Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic have similar spec lists, including round 1.2-inch 360×360 Super AMOLED displays, 1GHz dual-core processors, 4GB of storage, and 512MB of RAM. Perhaps most notable is that the original S2 watch can be connected to a 3G wireless plan through which it can operate autonomously. It will launch on the same day as the standard Gear S2 and from the same retailers. Consumers will also be able to get hands-on time with the Gear S2 exclusively at Best Buy and Macy’s Herald Square on October 2, and at an additional 50 Macy’s stores nationwide beginning October 16. Pricing for that model hasn’t been revealed yet.
