LeBron not basing future with Cavs on Thompson

On the eve of the Cavaliers opening training camp to begin chasing a title, James said that while it was hard to handle losing to Golden State in six games, the journey is worth the physical and mental anguish.

“I think Griff and our staff did a great job strengthening our team and bringing in a few outstanding new players and, no less important, maintaining the continuity of our core group, ” Blatt said.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers lost Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving previous year in the postseason, it was something that ended up finishing off their hopes of winning a title. “I think we’re really excited about him, and he’s probably pretty excited about us”. Forward James Jones said Monday Blatt was robbed of due credit because of James’ presence. I did go through that, and I feel that I’m starting the season in a much better place.

Cavaliers LeBron James, who has the same agent as Thompson, has stated before that he wanted the young talent to stay in Cleveland. We saw James go on a bit of a “sabbatical” last season to nurse a few nagging injuries, and it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see something like that again this upcoming season. “I haven’t forgotten…. We haven’t forgotten what it took to get there and while we were there, the experience”. According to Dave McMenamin, James said that he is “optimistic” about the deal for Thompson, but that he is “not getting involved” in any of the talks. This predicament may greatly affect his performance with the Cavs this season.

Even with Thompson still away from the Cavaliers and unsigned, the organization remains positive a deal will get done in the not to distant future. “Everybody in our locker room knows what our mission is this year”. James shared how the Miami Heat’s championship defeat at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 put his team in the proper mindset to take it all in 2012.

“But I will take all the pain that comes with competing for a championship”. I both love and fear him. That gives us the best chance to play in June.”.

“Play my clips from yesterday, I’ve already addressed it”, James said tersely, following the Cavs’ first practice of the 2015-16 season.

Cavs general manager David Griffin spoke about Thompson, noting how much the franchise wants to keep him on the court in Cleveland. However, the reports claimed that Thompson was only interested in a max contract (five-year, $94 million).
