It was reported that the set of chips and burgers were bought originally by the 28 year old, Hjortur Smarason, in the year 2009.
He then kept the food for six month and when found that there were no sign of decaying, he handed it over to the museum, where it had been for three years.
From there, it got transferred to the Reykjavik hotel, where the scene happened.
The staff of the hotel called the original owner, apologizing for what happened.
Mr. Smarason said “I don’t reckon I’m going to ask for compensation though, he probably deserves a medal, and I hope he had plenty to drink afterwards”.
Iceland is the county among few, who has no McDonald’s branch after its three branch got closed during 2009 financial crisis.
