Masahiro Tanaka: (Hamstring) Will Start Wednesday

New York could host the AL Wild Card game in six days from now, but beyond that their postseason rotation is subject to rumors and speculation. “I gave up four runs and I lost the game”.

Last Monday, Tanaka had me confused on straight areas. The Red Sox, as A-Rod put it, “are hot as a firecracker”, so they’re not helping.

Tanaka is 12-7 and leads the team with a 3.38 ERA.

RHP Masahiro Tanaka will make his 24th start of the season tonight.

Travis Shaw and Jackie Bradley Jr. each hit a two-run homer off Ivan Nova (6-10), who shrugged off Girardi’s praise for a seven-inning effort.

(AP) – Don’t call it a tune-up.

Barring the Yankees lose their final five games of the regular season, they’re going to clinch a Wild Card spot and it’s that time of year where they start thinking of what their roster for the one-game playoff would look like. “This is unfortunate.” Girardi reaffirmed that Masahiro Tanaka is scheduled for his first start Wednesday night since suffering a hamstring injury, but rain is in the forecast.

“I am, yeah”, he said.

“It’s something we’re trying to address”, Joe Girardi said. “We wanted to make that sure he felt good and he could go through all the things he had to go through”.

“Girardi has said that Eovaldi – who was 14-3 with a 4.20 ERA in 27 starts before being sidelined by the elbow issue – could ultimately help the Yankees during the postseason in a relief role, though there’s no target date for such a return”, writes Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News. Miley did not allow a run until the three-run sixth inning.

The offense made Tanaka’s job a lot easier September 2.

Rob Refsnyder is back at second base.

Coming off a three-game sweep of Baltimore, all shutout wins, the Red Sox kept the Yanks’ all-time franchise win total at 9,999 as Rodriguez improved to 3-1 against the Bombers this year with a 2.22 ERA. “We just got to come back and play good Yankee baseball, and we will”.

“But I like where we’re at”.

“We just need to relax and play our game”, Alex Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez hasn’t homered in 13 games, batting.147 over that stretch after going 1 for 7 in this series. I believe it would be inappropriate to expect him to dominant the Red Sox, or any other team for that matter, with 11 days passed since his last start.
