Area under Flash Flood Warning until 4pm today

The National Weather Service has extended a coastal flood advisory for Palm Beach County through midnight Tuesday.

Soaking rain will fall across the area overnight, possibly enough to produce flooding on a few tributaries as well as in areas of poor drainage.

Towns across southern Maine prepare for heavy rainfall, which has the potential to create flooding.

Flood watches are in effect through Thursday morning.

“We’re gonna get continuous rain showers and storms”, said Rodney Wynn, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Ruskin. “Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 45 miles per hour with higher gusts”.

High tide will be just after 1 p.m.in Portland Harbor.

The cold front crosses us on Wednesday, bringing even more rain.

Tropical moisture continues to infiltrate the Heart of Virginia as a system that originated from the Gulf of Mexico takes a trip into the Southeastern United States.

While there’s still much uncertainty about Joaquin, the NWS said this morning that it’s expected to track northward off the Mid-Atlantic coast later in the week.

The chance of rain is 60 percent, with between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

So far this month 3.04 inches have fallen and the norm stands at 3.30 inches. “Localized street flooding is possible in the areas that receive more than 2” of rain.
