When in doubt, Leonard Fournette will bail LSU out
Fournette gained 48 yards to set up his 14-yard scoring run in the first quarter, breaking alone into the secondary after quarterback Brandon Harris flipped him the ball at the last second on a scramble. He’s played only three games.

The highly touted prospect torched SU’s defense with his second straight 200+ yard game, but he wasn’t the only LSU player to quiet the Carrier Dome crowd.
LSU’s Malachi Dupre catching a touchdown pass against Syracuse. Of those receivers, Malchi Dupre and Travin Dural continue to grow.
Cuse kept the contest close for the majority of the game before losing by a final score of 34-24 in front of 43,101 people.
He could easily have broken LSU’s single-game rushing record – 250 yards by Alley Broussard in 2004 – in either of the past two weeks, and he would have shattered it against Syracuse if an 87-yard touchdown run hadn’t been called back because of an illegal-formation penalty. Through three games Fournette is on pace for over 2500 yards on the season! Jamie Keehn’s 13-yarder off the side of his foot gave the Orange possession at its 47.
Thomas Sirk was 17 of 25 for 114 yards with an 11-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Rahming. On the next first down – a first-and-15 after a false start – Harris hit Diarse for 12 yards. Fournette put the LSU offense on his figurative back while putting the Syracuse defense on his literal back.
“Let me credit Syracuse”, LSU coach Les Miles said.
“In the future, we’d like to play a game in Yankee Stadium or Soldier Field in Chicago”, Ausberry said. LSU led 7-3 with 6:58 left in the half. Ron Thompson snuffed out the second drive with a sack and forced fumble, but LSU recovered at their own 27 and punted instead of turning it over.
But the point still stands: Syracuse played the country’s No. 8 team very tough with a fifth-stringer who was recruited only by FCS colleges out of high school. Additionally, LSU allowed “Cuse to convert on 75 percent of its fourth-down plays, which included a successful fake field goal late in the first half”.
Behind Fournette’s 117 yards on 10 carries, LSU took a 7-3 lead into the lockerroom.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Jake Rudock ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score and Michigan scored all of its points in the first half.
The Orange (3-1) electrified the home crowd late in the third quarter on quarterback Zack Mahoney’s 40-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Brisly Estime that cut the Tigers’ lead to 17-10. The Orange could play one quarterback, or more than one, in the game. It was Fournette’s 62-yard scoring dash that turned everything back around for the Tigers. Powell then took a fourth-and-1 handoff up the middle for the 30-yard touchdown run that iced Dukes second straight win over a ranked Georgia Tech team.
Then, after LSU scored again to go ahead by 14, Mahoney orchestrated a seven-play, 56-yard drive.
LSU running back Derrius Guice (5) is hit by Syracuse safety… Next play, 15 yard pass interference penalty (Kevin Tolliver) negates an interception by Rickey Jefferson. Mahoney connected with Ben Lewis five times for 33 yards and a score in the fourth.
Fournette accounted for 59 percent of the Tigers’ offense, and his two touchdowns spearheaded their efforts.
LSU did not run away with the game.

Of course that’s premature, and maybe a bit silly, but just watch Fournette run wild on an average Saturday and it seems reasonable to use your imagination and speculate about the possibilities.
