And the now retired star incredibly tipped Milan to win the competition despite the fact that Mihajlovic’s men failed to qualify this season after finishing in 10th pace last term.

Fair enough, except… AC Milan isn’t in this year’s Champions League.

The 40-year-old is only two years out of the game since retiring from global football, but he seems to have lost all grasp on football affairs in that time.

“Who do I fancy?”

Beckham had two loan spells at the San Siro.

David Beckham used to be a regular in the Champions League.

The most surprising aspect of Beckham’s answer was that he did not tip Real Madrid to win the tournament.

The former England global also discussed the players he is most excited by now, including Juventus’ Alvaro Morata and Italy worldwide Marco Verratti. “Ignoring the usual suspects, you know, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, I think Morata is an exciting player”, he revealed.

Fair play to the interviewer for resisting the urge to correct him.
