USPS to buy 9113 Ram ProMatsers
The commercial arm of Ram Trucks – a division of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles LLC – recently won a U.S. Postal Service contract to supply a few 9,113 new 2016 model Ram ProMaster 2500 cargo vans; an order independent of the agency’s long-term acquisition program created to update its over 190,000 unit delivery vehicle fleet. The model to be used is the 2016 Ram ProMaster 2500 cargo, turned into a postal delivery vehicle, with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 good for 280-horsepower and 260 pound feet of torque. The engine is paired with a proven, smooth-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission, upgraded to accommodate the ProMaster’s exceptional cargo-hauling capability.

It will still be a while before the service completely replaces its massive fleet of Grumman LLV’s, (which ended production in 1994) probably because LLV stands for “Long-Life Vehicle”.
The Ram ProMaster is Ram Commercial’s full-size van entry within the brand’s popular commercial vehicle lineup. With the addition of the Ram ProMaster vans, this fleet will grow to become even more capable. With more than 14 configurations, ProMaster takes its place in the expanding, goal built segment with a number of best-in-class features focused on the commercial customer.

That’s high praise for RAM’s workhorse van, but once all the ProMasters are specially equipped for collecting and delivering mail and packages, they may prove to be the flawless tool to handle the postal service’s almost 154 million delivery points across the U.S.
