Fantasy Football: Week 3 Waiver Wire Pick Ups
Morris is a bruising back who doesn’t catch passes. Are you looking for some tips?

Rodgers is hopeful of having Eddie Lacy on the field, but it’s not like James Starks can’t have success if called upon. Let’s start to figure that out with our Week 3 rankings.
With things in the National Football League far from the norm, your week 3 waiver wire targets may be more important than ever.
At times fantasy football is more baffling than the conclusion of Interstellar.
Romo fractured his clavicle during Sunday’s game against the Eagles. Definitely give him a shot this week, especially if you are owners of either Jay Cutler or Tony Romo. Taylor is Rex Ryan’s guy. Clausen can not start for you no matter how cheap he is. He’s a streaming consideration in smaller leagues and a worthy QB2 in deeper leagues. With an above average offensive line and some good weapons on the outside, he should produce enough points to warrant his selection. Chris Johnson will likely get more touches, but David Johnson will likely do more with his slightly expanded role. I think talk of his demise is greatly overstated and he should end as a top-five running back. If I had a time machine, Murray wouldn’t be on my team (and neither would Dez Bryant, obviously).
Nick Foles was one of the most impressive quarterbacks in the National Football League in week 1. And even when Jones does have the edge, it will be slight. Somehow, Yahoo is telling me that they’re only owned in 38% of leagues, which is ridiculous. Add Jones now if you can.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the next coming of Josh Cribbs is in Cleveland and his name is Travis Benjamin. The first drive of the season with Manziel on the field ended in a 54-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin. He will be Atlanta’s lead back while Coleman recovers. What am I doing if I have Anderson? And it’s not like Hillman has been Marcus Allen back there himself.
Now, the struggling Saints will go to Carolina where they’re projected to score just 18 points according to Vegas. While New England’s rushing attack is always unpredictable, Lewis appears to be in line for a solid workload. But there are some other players who have bumps and bruises who could play this week. Any time Palmer gets a clean pocket, he’s lethal. Among the Week 2 overreactions, dropping Wright for one-week wonders is a big one. Lastly, after the 2-0 record became official, I’ll admit I was a little anxious about 3-0 happening with a trip to Dallas next week. Once you lose the work-horse role, it’s hard to come back from that. Some leagues waiver priorities are determined by standings and reset each week based on wins and losses. The Raiders offense flashed some real potential against the Ravens defense on Sunday and Carr was the main factor in their explosion. I thought there were better options than Miller in Week 2 and there certainly were. The Eagles are 0-2 as a team, and it’s possible that it’s taking time for the new players to learn Chip Kelly’s offense.
I like the way they are using him. Gio is a good flex play option even if Hill is on his game.
Ryan Tannehill threw for 359 yards in Week 2, putting up the first of what should be many strong performances this year. Andy Dalton has played well thus far, and he’s a solid sleeper here. Those big plays are tough to come by with regularity, but can alter a fantasy game at a moment’s notice. He’s already playing significant snaps, and he is the most unsafe player Seattle has after the catch. The probable designation tells us that Harvin will be available Sunday, barring a surprise.
At quarterback, the Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger have cemented themselves as the two best in the league and in fantasy this season. Assuming he’s even healthy for this week, he’s not a recommended start. The rub would be the eventual return of Brandon LaFell, but that’s still a ways away and Dobson has the talent to compete with LaFell if both are playing well. Yet somehow I got the win. That process could begin as early as this week with Gurley listed as a game-time decision. To make his lack of production worse, he suffered an ankle injury Monday night early in the first half and didn’t practice on Wednesday. After all, they get Oakland this week and that is a very winnable game. He’s not a fluke, folks.
Tre Mason, thigh (Q) and Todd Gurley, knee (Q), St. Louis Rams: Mason sat out the season opener with a balky right hamstring that gave him trouble throughout the preseason.
If you’re one of those unfortunate owners, we at Today’s Pigskin have a couple signal-callers worth considering. Joique Bell has all of 16 yards on 10 carries, and the Vikings held Ameer Abdullah to nine yards on six carries in Week 2. Keep an eye on Britt in smaller leagues. If he doesn’t go, Marshall’s volume and matchup make him a stud. That should mean a whole bunch of targets for other receiving options. I’m stashing Parker wherever I can.
And now, looking back at the best and worst performers of Week 2… The primary fantasy positions are covered (quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end).
Tevin Coleman has looked pretty good through until he was carted off vs. the Giants. Antonio Gate returns in Week 5.
Bortles threw two touchdowns and 273 yards against the Dolphins. Joe Flacco needs targets right now, so Gillmore is a guy to consider if you have a need, especially in bigger formats.
