After an extensive search on Lake Michigan, the United States Coast Guard has suspended the search for two fisherman.

Missing boater has “heart of gold” Aaron Juarez’s sister, Renee Palermo, and father, Victor Juarez, talk at the Pigeon Lake access site in Port Sheldon.

The Coast Guard says they’ve now done 23 searches both on land and in water using very sensitive radars and night vision goggles.

Cellphone records and a convenience store receipt helped investigators determine that the two arrived at Port Sheldon around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The helicopter from Detroit was expected to search the same general area as authorities focused on Wednesday, because it was an area on the lake where police determined the boaters’ cell phones were Saturday. They are understandably very emotional and say they’re praying for a miracle. “Things can change in an instant and people don’t realize the power of Lake Michigan or the other big lakes”, says Janet Dykstra, Aaron’s mother.

Anyone with information regarding the search is asked to call the Sector Lake Michigan command center at 414.747.7190. “We need everyone everywhere on all the coasts to just be observant and look out for anything that they could see”.
