According to BBC News, there were no immediate reports of deaths from the fire and the cause is now unknown.

The blaze broke out in Industrial Area 10, with Civil Defence crews in Sharjah arriving on the scene shortly after it was reported.

Firefighters battled the flames and put it under control in a short time before spreading to the adjacent warehouses, the official said.

About 40 apartments out of 250 were affected by fire and smoke, the Sharjah Civil Defense Directorate said.

Photos posted on social media Thursday show thick black smoke billowing from a fire licking up several stories of the tower’s facade. Burning debris fell from the building, causing damage to six parked cars. He said it appeared that the fire spread upward from there as gusts of wind fanned the flames. “You see the fire calms down a bit, and then when the wind starts gushing up it starts rising up”.
