Police on scene of rampage at Oregon community college
Umpqua Community College has about 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students.

Rob Manning of Oregon Public Broadcasting reports, “We are hearing there are multiple casualties being transported away from the [college] with unconfirmed reports of fatalities”.
State police said there was believed to be only one shooter “who is no longer a threat”.
A patient is wheeled into the emergency room at Mercy Medical Center Thursday in Roseburg, Ore., following a deadly shooting at Umpqua Community College.
Oregonlive.com reported that Douglas County dispatchers confirmed a suspect has been detained.
It said there were multiple casualties. Several ambulances were reported to be on scene.
Police responded at 10:38 a.m. PT, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Tweets from students and friends show the chaos.
President Obama was briefed on the shooting by Lisa Monaco, his homeland security adviser, a White House official said.
“The hearts and thoughts of all Oregonians are with the victims, their families and the entire UCC and Roseburg communities”. He said once he found out more on what happened, he would work with Congress to find ways to prevent tragedies like this.
The paper said agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives were en route to Roseburg, a city of about 20,000 people a few 260 miles (418 km) south of Portland. Nursing is the top major.

The area is a gun-free zone. The most recent was in September, a history professor was killed by another faculty member during a shooting at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. Kittelman is the mother of a student at the school and a former Douglas County Commissioner.
