Super Eagles move up one place in October ranking — Federation Internationale de Football Association Ranking

Nigeria position remain unchanged after failing to beat Tanzania in the last month’s AFCON qualifiers in Dar Es Salam, but thrashed Niger 2-0 three days after in a friendly in Port Harcourt. But while they appear completely biased and unnecessary, they hold a very important role in how teams are seeded for World Cup Qualifying and the World Cup itself so it shouldn’t be ignored.

The Blue Sharks rose from 56th to 41st, leading a number of African sides to have made impressive progress.

The biggest mover was Liberia, who jumped 65 places to No95.

The Nigerian side, who are 10th on the continent, lag behind Algeria, Cote d’ Ivoire, Ghana, Tunisia, Senegal, Cape Verde Islands, Cameroon, Congo and Egypt.

The October Federation Internationale de Football Association Rankings are out and they appear to remain to be a jumbled, random mess.

At the top, Germany (2nd, up 1) have reclaimed second spot and trail leaders Argentina (1st, unchanged) by just 18 points.

Argentina lead the way ahead of World champions Germany as well as Belgium in third.
