Suspicious fire under investigation at Planned Parenthood clinic in southern

Fire authorities said Thursday that someone had used a rock to break a window of the facility in Thousand Oaks, and then threw in a container of gasoline and ignited the flames. Officials say there was likely more damage from the building’s sprinklers than from the fire.

No one was injured in the incident late Wednesday night, and the clinic had reported no threats this week, authorities said.

Investigators are looking into an alleged arson that occurred last night at a Thousand Oaks Planned Parenthood. Deputies and firefighters responded and found a broken window. Arson investigators were examining the video and will test the liquid accelerant.

Planned Parenthood didn’t immediately return a call for comment.

Earlier this week, the state of Missouri cleared the organization of any wrongdoing in an investigation of its handling of fetal tissue, as depicted in a series of videos released this summer.

Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards has been defending the orgainzation this week on Capitol Hill.

Firefighters extinguished a blaze on Thursday that erupted at a Planned Parenthood location in Thousand Oaks. Planned Parenthood denies the videos show any wrongdoing.

Planned Parenthood, which has come under fire recently with accusations it illegally profits by selling the body parts of aborted fetuses, was the center of a Congressional standoff this week that threatened another federal government shutdown until lawmakers approved on Wednesday a spending bill that would extend through December. 11 and included no Planned Parenthood funding cuts.
