DOVE Center hosting events in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October 16: the Iowa City Police Department’s Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) will be presented the Verizon Helpline Champion Award at a City Hall ceremony set for 7 p.m.

During the event sixteen “silent witness” silhouettes representing Winston-Salem victims of domestic violence, sponsored by individuals and local businesses, will be unveiled with plaques that tell each victim’s story.
Friday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m., Caldwell County – There will be a Domestic Violence Awareness Day event at the Caldwell County Butler Building.

Montclair based Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (fondly referred to as S.O.F.I.A.) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization based in Essex County that provides advocacy, supportive services and referrals for temporary housing to “at risk” women and children of domestic violence. The center also welcomes people from the LGBTQ community.
We have no broadly sweeping editorial stance to take on the issue; domestic violence in all forms is wrong – that should be a universal view. They help victims file the restraining order and counsels them.
