CBS, Amazon Partner for Summer Streaming
The new deal will begin next summer with “BrainDead”, the comic-thriller from “The Good Wife” cocreators Robert and Michelle King.

BrainDead is the latest sci-fi summer series from CBS, which followed Dome with Extant and Zoo, which has a streaming deal with Amazon rival Netflix.
Amazon and CBS announced today that they are entering into a multi-year, multi-series content agreement making Prime Video the exclusive streaming home for three new CBS summer series through 2018. That quick turnaround model was pioneered by CBS three years ago for drama “Under the Dome“, and has been a crucial source of financing for the Eye in expanding its slate of summer scripted series. The series starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead is set in Washington, D.C., where alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of congressmen and their staffers. As with other Prime titles, members will also be able to download and view the episodes offline from compatible mobile devices, including iOS, Android, and Fire.
Amazon Prime Instant Video is available as part of the Amazon Prime annual membership, which costs $99 a year.
The company already has a preexisting in-season licensing agreement with CBS that allows Prime members to stream series like Under the Dome and Extant four days after their original broadcast without any additional charge.
Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Licensing Officer at CBS Corporation, calls the concept for the show “truly original” and “genre-bending”, adding the show will be “one of the most talked about shows next summer by CBS viewers and Prime members”.

This deal will also extend and expand other CBS and SHOWTIME titles available to Prime members down the road.
