You can now make your Facebook profile picture a GIF
Think of it like a Vine video that replaces your profile picture. The biggest change comes as tweaks to the mobile app UI. The profile picture and video will now be front-and-center of your profile – no longer off to the lefthand side of the screen – and enlarged.

“When more than 26 million people used our Celebrate Pride filter, it was more apparent than ever that people use their profile picture to show who they are – even if it’s just for a moment in time”, the company said in a blog post.
The feature is being introduced to give people a more “rounded look at your personality” or “more creeping material” in layman’s terms. Content that can be added include one-line bios, show what information you want to appear such as education, work info, etc. and you can also showcase up to five Featured Photos to be displayed at the top of your profile.
The social network announced Wednesday that it’s testing three new features on its iOS mobile app. One of them allows users to use 7-second looping video clips as their profile photo – so it’s like a GIF. For starters, user profiles are a popular destination; the company said people visit profiles four billion times each day, so it’s in Facebook’s best interest to keep them fresh and interesting. (Facebook is expected to roll out broad support for Live Photos soon, however.) Profile photos also mirror Snapchat’s animated profile avatars.
“You’ve always been able to control who can see the information you showcase on your profile, and now we’re making it easier for you to see what others can view by introducing a new customizable space at the top of your profile”. Let us know on Twitter or in the Facebook comments.

All of these new features are being rolled out slowly, starting with select users in the United Kingdom and California.
