The winger has been training with the Elland Road outfit since the start of the last week and has officially joined the club until the new year on an emergency 93-day loan.
The Englishman is looking for a fresh start at Leeds and revealed that he is excited at the prospect of playing at big club such as the Whites.
Leeds boss Uwe Rossler said of Buckley: “He brings pace, directness, goal threat and he’s a good lad”.
With Sunderland still searching for a first Premier League win after seven games, a report in the Daily Mail this morning has claimed the experience head coach could leave if three points do not arrive against the Hammers. “To play games and to perform well is my aim now”.
And on the prospects of Buckley being involved against Blues, Rosler added: “Definitely, he’s competing for a place”. I think he’s settled into the group quickly.
Despite his lack of top flight football, Leeds have pulled off something of a coup to agree a deal with Buckley, considering his experience and proven talent in the Championship.
“He has been in the Premier League”.

Sunderland paid £2.5million to take Buckley to Wearside in August 2014 and although he made a total of 25 appearances for them in his first season, he has yet to feature for the Black Cats in the current campaign.
