“It’s just like any piece of gossip… and it put us in a weird position of having to answer, you know what I mean?” The daytime host and Oscar victor added, “So, I don’t think whether you know, or think, or believe I’m gay has nothing to do with what my abilities are”.
The actor shared his views on sexuality during an interview with The Guardian.

Not surprisingly, Damon’s words were met with a furious roar form the LGBT community, who blasted the actor for implying that gay and bisexual actors should remain closeted, especially when their straight counterparts have access to greater freedoms when it comes to expressing their sexuality and relationships.
Actor Matt Damon found himself in trouble after comments he made in an interview with The Guardian on Sunday. “Which was then really deeply offensive”, Damon continued.
Damon recently came under fire for an exchange during the premiere episode of the HBO docu-series “Project Greenlight“, where he interrupted a producer’s comments on diversity.
Our only suggestion to Matt is that think twice before you say it out in the open. “I don’t want to, like [imply] it’s a few sort of disease – then it’s like I’m throwing my friends under the bus”, Damon said. “You’re just trying to get people to click on to your thing”. “In the blogosphere, there’s no real penalty for just taking the ball and running with it”.
