All Swansea players’ places at risk – Monk

Garry Monk’s side are now without a win in their last three (D1, L2) and their four-game unbeaten streak at the start of the season now seems a distant memory after a winless September.

The Swans boss admitted he was left angered enough from his side’s showing at Southampton to shout out a few home truths in the away dressing room at St Mary’s following their 3-1 defeat, the forcefully put criticism leaving players in no doubt about his feelings.

“We didn’t do too many things right in the Southampton game so there weren’t too many positives, but you have to be clear with them“. “That’s why you have competition in the squad”.

Asked about the trip to south Wales, striker Harry Kane – who got off the mark for the season in the win over City – told Tottenham’s official website: “It’s going to be a tough game – they’re a very good side and they play good football, but we’re on good form and we’re playing well. They have to fight every single day for the shirt”.

Kick-off at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday is at 4pm.

Though coy about which players were in line for inclusion, Monk believes an improvement is essential after the 3-1 defeat against Southampton.

“But we do approach it trying to make the most of each game”.

Sigurdsson is keen to see the squad extend their impressive home record on Sunday as they bid to get their campaign back on track.

“It cost us in the games against Watford and Southampton, It would be a different situation if they weren’t working hard, but you have to perform”.

Do so and Swansea will give themselves a chance of ending their search for a win over Spurs that has lasted throughout the eight Premier League meetings since 2011.

Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew had contributed Swansea’s seven previous goals between them, but Monk says it is the performance of the team and not the lack of goalscorers which is focusing his thoughts right now.

“It’s important that we improve as a team”.

I think we all have taken a little bit of criticism in these recent performances, Southampton and Watford, and quite rightly so”.
