In the video, titled “In Memory of Evan Murray”, Bon Jovi explains that he’s a father of sons who also play football, and that his heart goes out to the Murray family.

School officials say the football team will continue its season Saturday when it hosts Voorhees High School in a game that was initially scheduled for Friday night. He wished Murray’s teammates at Warren Hills Regional High School in Washington Township the best and told them to “win one for Evan”.

Massive internal bleeding due to a laceration of the spleen caused Murray’s death, according to Morris County Medical Examiner Dr. Ronald Suarez. He was able to walk off the field but collapsed on the sideline.

Bon Jovi offered his support for the team. The 17-year-old was a three-year starter at quarterback and three-sport athlete at the high school.

Earlier this week, Warren Hills postponed Spirit Week activities including the school’s homecoming dance, as the school community mourned Murray’s passing with thousands attending his wake and funeral over the past two days.
