Bears deal DE Allen to Panthers

No confirmation has been offered from the Bears, but a follow-up report from Glazer states the Bears got a sixth-round pick in return from Carolina. Unfortunately, the Bears do not have many of those types of players, which means we likely have not yet seen the end of the Bears waving goodbye to members of the football team this season. €œ ” We appreciate Jared’€™s contributions and wish him the best in Carolina”. He didn’t live up to expectations last season and was moved to an outside linebacker in the Bears new 3-4 defense. Johnson already has been ruled out for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay.

“To be honest, I love the 3-point stance”, he said. He was all in as far as learning outside linebacker. But the fit for Allen was a consideration in the process, and obviously it was going to be a 4-3 team and obviously not a cellar-dweller at this point of his career. Plus, he’s looked like the same Matt Forte as always this season, meaning he’s still one of the best backs in the league, and they should be able to get a solid pick for him.

And that 4-3 team turned out to be the Panthers and coach Ron Rivera, an undefeated team suddenly confronted with the loss of starting defensive end Charles Johnson to a hamstring injury.

“We lose a leader, a leader out of the locker room”.

“We concern ourselves with the game plan and preparing for the team that we’re playing that week, and all that other stuff – trade rumors, trade talk – that’s for (media) to worry about”, linebacker Lamarr Houston said. “He studied. He prepared himself well”, McPhee told reporters. In those meetings, Allen totaled 14 tackles and two sacks. Once Johnson is recovered, Allen and Johnson will be a massive force rushing the quarter back from both sides. He’s definitely going to be missed.

“Jared Allen is a proven pass rusher”, he said.

The Panthers used the IR-designated to return past year on fullback Mike Tolbert, who suffered a hairline fracture in his knee in Week 3 and returned in Week 13. “I gave it the old college try and I put the work in”. When that is, I don’t know.

FoxSports first reported the trade. He attended every voluntary workout in the spring through training camp practices.

The Panthers will absorb $823,529 of Allen’s $1 million base salary this year.

A five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All Pro selection, Allen has recorded 134 sacks in just over 11 seasons with the Chiefs, Vikings and Bears.

The timing of Carolina’s Week 5 bye is also advantageous for Allen.

The step of trading veteran assets should continue with Matt Forte and Willie Young.

Fox also called the performance of Acho, who notched three tackles and a quarterback hurry, a “bright spot”.
