2nd T20: Pakistan bat as Hafeez and Irfan return

Sohail Tanvir (1-18) was brilliant with the ball and Wasim (1-14) even better, continuing his efforts from the first T20I and bagging the man of the series award.

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Tuesday won the toss and made a decision to bat against host team Zimbabwe in the second and decisive T20 match at Harare Sports Club.

Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 13 runs in the first T20 thanks to Imad Wasim’s four wicket haul.

Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza kept Zimbabwe’s hopes alive with a 60-run fifth-wicket stand in 10 overs, leaving 53 required from 24 deliveries.

Pakistan’s T20 skipper Shahid Afridi earlier said that the tour offered his teammates an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup, as HNGN reported previously. “Body language is very important and whatever the coach has asked, the boys have delivered”.

Having posted 136 for six, matching the total they compiled in Sunday’s 13-run victory on the same pitch, Pakistan produced another impressive bowling performance to limit the unchanged hosts to 121 for seven. Shoaib Maqsood (26) anchored the innings, while the other batsmen were tied down by the bowlers and the slowness of the surface.

After struggling to gain any meaningful momentum, Pakistan went into the final two overs with just 112 runs on the board and were grateful to the pair for a few late blows. The partnership was finally broken on 60, when Raza was dismissed by Imran Khan Jr., who bowled him for 36, while the scorte read 84.

Elton Chigumbura (17) got down to business immediately with two sixes in two balls taking the equation to 38 off the last 18. “We need to make sure we up our game for the ODI series”.
