Officially, Ronaldo is still level with Raul’s tally of 323 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo has apologized for his recent attitude towards the media which has seen him storm out of interviews and press conferences on several occasions.

The disputed goal came in a La Liga game at Real Sociedad in September 2010 when Ronaldo’s shot arrowed toward the Sociedad wall, looped up off compatriot Pepe’s back and over goalkeeper Claudio Bravo into the net.

“When we are talking about that goal, I absolutely do not have a problem in awarding it to him. I never would have imagined when I wore this shirt for the first time I would be the highest goalscorer in the team’s history, that I would beat my friend Raul, and the late Alfredo di Stefano”, Ronaldo said.

Today, during a ceremony celebrating Ronaldo equalling club legend Raul’s 323-goal record, the ex-Manchester United star said, “I know I’m an arsehole, but that’s who I am”, according to The Mirror.

The striker also thanked the coaches he had worked with at the club, as well as the medical staff and his agent Jorge Mendes. And the president for this event, Hala Madrid!’

After Tuesday night’s match Ronaldo snapped at a reporter who asked him about inflammatory comments made by Barcelona’s Gerard Pique earlier this year.

Ronaldo is also the all-time scoring leader in the Champions League with 82 goals, five more than the injured Lionel Messi. It’s because the questions aren’t good! Can’t you talk about the good things that have happened? “You want me to fall into the same trap as Pique”.
