Reports claiming that Advocaat is set to quit the Black Cats after today’s game against West Ham have gained credence over the last 24 hours, with Sunderland yet to register a league win this season and propping up the table with just two points from their first seven matches.
Evans left the Millers after three and a half years at the helm on Monday and Eric Black will take charge against the Clarets.
They continued to control the game, though, and their reward came in the 75th minute as they levelled with a goal-of-the-season contender.
The club said both parties “wished to head in a different direction” and the pair depart New York Stadium after three and a half years in the job. The meeting was at all times positive, constructive and straightforward. “Rotherham United Football Club will always welcome Steve and Paul whether as an opposition management team or as supporters of our fantastic football club”.
“Vadis expressed his desire to return to Norwich City following the conclusion of his loan which is a decision we fully respect”.

Steve Evans’ departure from Rotherham United failed to spark an upturn in form for the Championship strugglers as they fell 2-1 at home to Burnley.
The vote for the man of the match in the last game, the 2-1 home defeat against Reading last Saturday, was won by right-back Tendayi Darkiwa who had another excellent game and scored his first ever Burnley goal as the Clarets tried to fight back from an early 2-0 deficit before losing the game.
Alongside Sam Vokes in attack, Andre Gray has replaced Rouwen Hennings, who is not in the matchday squad at all this evening.
Joey Barton has been handed his full debut for Burnley in tonight’s Championship clash against Rotherham United.

Lying 20th in the league and without a manager, The Millers will look to extend their run of victories to 3 at home to Burnley.
