A 40-20 kick from Sinfield set up the position for Hall to take Moon’s pass and force his way over for a try that brought his side to within a point and the skipper then kept his nerve to land the conversion that put the Rhinos in front for the first time. “That’s why he won the Golden Boot, he’s a great player”.

“We have got three players that we would unashamedly like to send out on a high, we can mention that now but we will have to be really good against a strong Wigan team”. “Thankfully it bounced this side of the line”.

Coach Brian McDermott described it as a “battle of wills”. “It was a great involvement from him”.

He admitted Rhinos were “gassed in the second half” and he said: “The performance was nine out of 10”.

“It really is a tough place to go”.

Clarkson, who spent this season on loan at Widnes Vikings, was released from the final year of his Leeds deal.

“I’m experiencing a whole range of emotions”, Sinfield added. “That semi-final was one of the toughest games I’ve been involved in, but I’m just delighted to be able to get to Old Trafford again”.

“I’m also very happy”.

“It’s such a great honour to finish my career out playing for this team and this great club. We have a fantastic group who want to win no matter what”.

Leeds full-back Zak Hardaker accepted Watkins’ offload to slide over for the 99th try of his career midway through the first half and Sinfield put over the conversion before drawing his side level with a penalty.

Retiring Peacock, who knows the Super League semi-final against St Helens will be his last competitive match if the hosts lose, has given 10 years remarkable service to his home-town club. “Through all the adversity, they’ve kept fighting”, he told the St Helens Reporter.

“I’ve no complaints. I’ve learnt a lot this year”. W e’ve been the bridesmaid a couple of times, hopefully next year we can become the bride.

“All credit to Leeds”. But it wasn’t about me, JP or Kylie. Everybody had written Leeds off a few weeks back apart from us.
