5-star forward Wenyen Gabriel commits to Kentucky over Duke
Kentucky now has two five-star commits in its class of 2016; power forward Sascha Killeya-Jones pledged to John Calipari’s program in mid-August.

Kentucky is also a finalist for ESPN No. 8 Miles Bridges, who will announce his choice Saturday.
According to ESPN.com, Gabriel had narrowed his selection of schools to Kentucky, Duke, Maryland, Connecticut, and Providence.
“Kentucky made it clear that they had a plan for me personally and for helping me to take my game to the next level”, Gabriel said. The whole time it was me and him. “I don’t have to worry about playing out of my comfort zone”, said Gabriel, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
Saturday could bring more good news for the Cats with Bridges, but let us rejoice today in the commitment of Wenyen Gabriel. His stock and reputation enhanced with each week, to the point where he’s now ranked the No. 16 overall player in the class of 2016 in 247 Sports’ composite echelon. Wynyard is not expected to enroll until December though.
The 6-10 power forward took an official visit to Kentucky last weekend before hosting Blue Devils’ head coach Mike Krzyzewski at his school – Wilbraham And Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Maryland – on Tuesday night.
Gabriel, who is now a five-star recruit, is one of the all-time late-bloomers.

Gabriel had also scheduled to visit Duke later this month but cancelled after being sold on Calipari and Kentucky. There are still plenty of players to come off the board, many of which Kentucky is recruiting, but for now they appear to be putting together another great recruiting class.
