No plot details have been confirmed, but the title obviously references Bridget Jones having a child, although the identity of that child’s father remains to be seen.
The first look of Renee Zellweger in the new Bridget Jones film Bridget Jones’s Baby has been released.
Aside from 46-year-old Zellweger, 55-year-old Colin Firth is set to reprise his dashing role as Bridget’s husband, Mark Darcy.
“Bridget Jones’s Baby has started filming”, the accompanying tweet reads.
According to reports, Patrick Dempsey will take on the role of Daniel Cleaver, replacing Hugh Grant.
Deadline’s report from last month claims that the story is actually based on author Helen Fielding’s newspaper columns, and not her latest book Mad About The Boy.
Times have changed since then, and in the first image from the upcoming film that Universal is sharing with fans, Zellweger-as-Bridget is clutching an iPad with a red cover to her chest with a secretive smile on her face.

“I do think that if it was just me and a girl batting our eyelids at each other in a full-out romantic comedy, I would look a little sinister and weird at my age”, he said.
