Former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala, now director of the Clinton Foundation, has suffered a stroke, according to a statement posted on the foundation’s website. Clinton visited her in the hospital and sent staff an email saying the prognosis was “encouraging”, The Times reported.

Shalala, 74, served for eight years in the Clinton cabinet, and then moved on to a presidency position at the University of Miami.

The foundation’s finances have become the subject of scrutiny after Hillary Clinton began her campaign for president. She was named in March as the foundation’s president.
