Lemony Snicket to donate $1 Million to Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood responded via twitter with this tweet.

In response to this increasingly hostile rhetoric, proponents of Planned Parenthood, like Handler and Brown, have rallied to the groups defense, sharing messages of support.
Daniel Handler, better known by his pen name Lemony Snicket, and his illustrator/author wife Lisa Brown chose to show their support, not with a pinked-out profile photo, but with a donation.
The president of the organization, Cecile Richards, defended the health-care provider at a hearing with House Republicans this week, and said the nonprofit has fallen victim of a “smear campaign” due to anti-abortionists secretly taping PP officials talking about harvesting foetal tissue for scientific research – a practice Richards says is totally legal. In his tweet, he pledged to donate $1 million dollars to the company now under congressional investigation.
The organization has been under fire since a series of undercover videos was released by the pro-life group Center for Medical Progress.
As of 2012, 79-percent of people receiving services from Planned Parenthood lived at 150 percent of the federal poverty level or lower (about $18,500 for a single adult), according to a March Government Accountability Office report.
Handler has commented on the organization before, in a 2007 essay titled “Adjusted Income” for The New York Times, in which he wrote, “If your salary equaled the amount of money my wife and I gave Planned Parenthood one year, you’d be in the richest 1 per cent in the world”.
