And now Princess Leia’s famous Return Of The Jedi slave bikini has been sold at auction for a staggering $96,000.
Princess Leia, typically seen in robes, was forced into the skimpy outfit by alien gangster Jabba the Hutt after he captured her when she infiltrated his headquarters on the desert planet Tatooine. It opened at Dollars 80,000 and eventually went under the hammer to an anonymous bidder for USD 16,000 above the starting price, reported Ace Showbiz.
The costume came with a letter of authenticity from designer Richard Miller and a collar and a few chain.
Other Hollywood treasures that fetched six-figure winning bids included George Reeves’ Superman costume ($216,000/£135,000);Harrison Ford’s signature screen used Indiana Jones bullwhip ($204,000/£127,500); Norma Shearer’s 1930 Best Actress Academy Award ($180,000/£113,000), and the General Lee auto from The Dukes of Hazzard ($120,000/£75,000). That went to the miniature model of Princess Leia’s “Blockade Runner”, the first flying ship seen on Star Wars, which sold for $450,000.
