Obama says he will continue to push for more gun laws

“The more knowledge you have, the better you can deal with the situation”, Solomon said.

Politicians aren’t allowed to despair.

Washington, October 3 With Republican controlled Congress unwilling to act on his call to enact tough gun laws, President Barack Obama vowed to keep talking about it and explore what he could do on his own. By one count, it was Obama’s ninth speech following a mass shooting.

Each dot on the map signifies a shooting where four or more people were injured or killed. Yes, every week. You could look it up on ShootingTracker.com.

“Let’s not forget, this is happening every single day in forgotten neighborhoods around the country”, the president said at a news conference Friday in the White House. “It’s not enough. It does not capture the heartache and grief and anger that we should feel. And it does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted someplace else in America – next week, or a couple of months from now”.

It’s a political choice. “I’d ask the American people to think about how they can get our government to change these laws, and to save lives”. “‘Fewer gun-safety laws.’ Does anybody really believe that?”

I know people who do. “People have been a little surprised by these statistics”, CNN quoted Adam Lankford, an associate professor of criminal justice at the University of Alabama, who did the analysis.

That isn’t to say they won’t try, but Obama’s comments were definitely revealing.

If it gets messed with it would have profound consequences for the global economy and it could put our financial system into the kind of tailspin we saw back in 2007, 2008: and we can do that in short order.

The president did not politicize the shooting in Chattanooga when it was a Muslim radical who did the shooting. Gun violence is actually down, along with all crime numbers.

He dismissed the notion that the issue of mass shootings was somehow just a mental problem.

By contrast, it said, “according to the U.S. State Department, the number of USA citizens killed overseas as a result of incidents of terrorism from 2004 to 2013 was 277″. And what can be routine about that? No, he and the political left ran from those stories as quickly as possible.

At the time Sheriff Hanlin wrote to Vice-President Joe Biden saying: “Gun control is not the answer”. But if pollsters ask about individual changes in gun laws, as Pew has done, everything changes. “So how can you, with a straight face, make the argument that more guns will make us safer?”

A recent CBS news poll found that 88 percent of Americans surveyed support stronger gun control legislation, including increased punishment for gun trafficking and expanded background checks.

“I have a right to protect myself, because there are crazed animals like the guy in Oregon”. Raising the debt ceiling does not authorize us to spend more.

It is the way for the United States to maintain its full faith and credit.

“Then we locked the doors, turned off the lights and… we were all pretty much in panic mode and called 911 (emergency services) and our parents and (said) “I love yous” because we didn’t know what would happen, if those were our last words”. “The main thing I’m going to do is … talk about this on a regular basis”.
