The Sheriff’s Office said the plan was in the early stages and no one was hurt.

Four California students were arrested for plotting to commit a mass shooting, authorities said on 3 October. The group of would-be shooters allegedly plotted every detail of their planned attack, including who they planned to shoot, locations and methods for the shooting, Mele said.

“I asked about how often locker searches are done, and they’re not done on campus, which is really concerning”, Swanson said.

“The students who noticed the suspicious activity felt comfortable enough to bring this information to the attention of school staff. Their willingness to get involved and report what they saw prevented what very well could have been another needless tragedy”, the officer said. (Close) enough to keep me up last night, to keep my detectives and lieutenants up last night.

The four students were arrested on conspiracy charges Friday at their homes. The school then contacted the sheriff’s office.

The investigation in Sonora began the day before a man shot and killed nine people at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore.

Mele added that the unnamed juveniles had yet to acquire any weapons, but “they were going to come on campus and shoot and kill as many people as possible”.

As a teacher at Columbia Elementary, she said she is familiar with the drills and training staff go through in case of such events. Law enforcement indicates that the parents of the accused have been cooperating with authorities.
