Toby Alderweireld has taken to social media to urge Tottenham to focus as Spurs gear up for their Premier League clash with Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.

But Monk didn’t waste any time in showing his Swans what’s possible when their at their sharpest, adding: “We moved on and showed them what we’re good at to make sure we get back to the levels so we go forward with our confidence high”. “That’s why you have competition in the squad”.

That impressive result lifted Tottenham up to sixth in the table and also extended their unbeaten run to six games, including three consecutive victories – they haven’t lost in the league since the opening day.

Though coy about which players were in line for inclusion, Monk believes an improvement is essential after the 3-1 defeat against Southampton.

I don’t think rants really work, but players are not stupid and they know when they’re underperforming”.

“We’ve all been hurting, none of us want to be associated with that, none of us want those types of performances, we want to make it right”.

Tottenham have won the last seven meetings between the two sides, with the most recent a 3-2 victory at White Hart Lane back in March – this is also a fixture that has never ended in a goalless draw.

Key Player: Bafetimbi Gomis – The Frenchman has been one of the few bright sparks for Swansea this season and he’s now the fourth top goalscorer in the league with four goals to his name.

“It cost us in the games against Watford and Southampton, It would be a different situation if they weren’t working hard, but you have to perform”.

“It’s important that we improve as a team”.

“The chances we’ve created have fallen to a number of players and it’s a case of being clinical and having more composure in those moments”.

“I accept responsibility for that as much as anyone”.

“Around the 15-game mark is where it starts to settle down a bit and you can see where people are at and it will be the same for ourselves”.
