FDNY: 1 dead, 3 others injured in apparent gas blast
A resident was moving out and taking the stove, which requires disconnecting the gas line, officials said.

The Borough Park building explosion that left one woman dead yesterday may have been caused by a gas leak created during the removal of a high-end stove.
The commissioner added: ‘There’s one person who we have still not found. We don’t know if they were involved – were they here today or not. He cited previous explosions in Harlem and the East Village.
Gov. Cuomo said he intends to direct the state Department of Public Service to investigate the cause of the explosion. “Elephants and rhinos are being slaughtered at a faster rate than they are being born, which will result in their extinction if we don’t step up”, Atkins said in a statement Sunday.
New York City Department of Buildings staffers have headed out to assess the damage.
Shimon Fried was about five blocks away when he heard a boom. ‘They wanted her to get out, ‘ Niurca said of the landlords, who’ve yet to comment on the unfolding tragedy.
The blast rocked the largely Orthodox Jewish neighborhood on a Sabbath afternoon.
Fire officials said a stove was being taken out and replaced on the second-floor apartment where the explosion emanated from.
“She was an older, very sweet woman who kept to herself”, said Vivian Acosta, 35, who lives nearby.
Her body was discovered in a stairwell near the second floor, close to the apartment where the explosion started, Nigro said.
An oven used for heating may have caused a house fire in north Minneapolis that killed three young children, fire officials said Sunday. Authorities were trying to track down another person who lived in the building.

It appears that the building is home to housewares store and several apartments.
