Help available for those with mental health issues

Despite the pervasiveness of mental illness in the population – most estimates have it that one in four adults experiences mental illness in any given year – there remains this persistent prejudice that smothers with a pall of silence.

“Healing people is good”. She said the spirit of volunteering is, “central to our spirit as Americans”. A 2014 evaluation indicates course graduates have an increased awareness of mental illness and exhibit a higher likelihood of assisting others. “But we’re working on it”.

She looks at it another way. Today, doctors and nurses often cite federal privacy laws when shutting families out of their loved one’s mental health care, even though, in many cases, they’re legally permitted to share the information. “It could be depression, it could be anxiety, it could be psychosis where somebody is experiencing hallucinations or delusions”.
