Alabama public schools receive prestigious Blue Ribbon award
Since 1982, the Department of Education has been giving Blue Ribbon awards each year to a select number of schools.

Gloria Cain, former superintendent of the Diocese of Dallas schools office, celebrated the school’s Blue Ribbon designation this week.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on student scores and graduation rates.
Falling Water Elementary School in Hamilton County, Buchanan Elementary School in Rutherford County and Trousdale County High School were recognized for closing gaps between groups of students. The private school is St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School in Rogers.
Ten schools in Indiana are being recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for “exemplary work” and innovation. “These schools are great examples of strong leadership and teacher excellence that leads to high student achievement”.

Masuk High, along with the other Blue Ribbon Schools, will be presented with a plaque and a flag during a ceremony in Washington, DC in November. Two lawmakers, Congressman Steve Womack and Senator John Boozman addressed a gymnasium full of students, congratulating them for their hard work.
