Adobe Unveils Its Photoshop Fix Mobile Editing App

In addition, video content is coming soon to Adobe Stock, the company’s royalty-free collection of high-quality photos, illustrations and graphics. Today the company officially launched Photoshop Fix, the app that was teased months ago and code-named “Project Rigel”. There are a number of packages available via the App Store. There are two new mobile apps, new touch capabilities, updates to Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Indesign and more – all of which will be available before the end of the year (and a few of which are available from today). Photoshop Fix, for iOS, is made retouching and restoring photos, using editing tools like color, paint, adjust, and defocus. Photoshop Fix’s remit is “The power of Photoshop retouching for everyone, anywhere”. Adobe also said they are working on adding support for Apple Pencil in its apps along with split view compatibility, an option that became available to Apple users in iOS 9. New Illustrator CC features include the Shaper tool, Live Shapes and enhanced Smart Guides. Adobe Stock is also being made available for enterprise use, with additional support for license management, reporting tools, and unlimited usage of stock content in large print runs.

As CC moves to new form factors, Adobe has been adding touch to more of its applications and enhancing the existing touch support for others. There’s no Android version of Photoshop Fix as yet, but one is in the works. These 3D models can be synced across Creative Cloud Libraries for use in Photoshop CC. Premiere Pro CC includes expanded UltraUD support for editing 4K to 8K video footage, plus it will gain support for HDR workflows. UX designers can also look forward to Project Comet, the only end-to-end UX design solution that includes a new CC desktop app with a companion mobile app. now under development, Project Comet is demoed publicly today for the first time during the MAX opening keynote. And both apps have been optimized for use with Windows 10 touchscreens. Adobe Stock will also add support for Muse CC, Dreamweaver CC, and Flash Professional CC, giving you access to the marketplace from within those apps.

On the services side, Adobe is adding video support to its Adobe Stock feature, allowing users to download and purchase video content right within the CC desktop apps.

There will also be a new way for creatives to build online portfolios, via a new service called Adobe Portfolio. With Adobe Portfolio, Adobe customers can create simple portfolio websites that are powered by Behance. It does require signing up for an Adobe account, but that is also free.

Those who have a Creative Cloud membership will soon have access to Portfolio where they can create and customise layouts for presenting images on a site that’s responsive, include a personalised URL, password-protection and Typekit fonts.

Each of Adobe’s apps interfaces with its range of Creative Cloud desktop apps via CreativeSync technology, allowing files to be transferred and worked on between mobile and desktop devices. InDesign CC and Illustrator CC are getting new and updated Touch workspaces, for example, and Premiere Pro CC, After Effects CC and Character Animator are also getting new touch capabilities. Adobe Portfolio will also be added to Creative Cloud Photography plan.
