The woman in her twenties said she was embarrassed after being teased about her husband’s height.

In a case of unusual reasoning, a woman in Saudi Arabia has filed for divorce because her husband was too short in height.
She added she is “painfully uneasy” with, and caused distress by, attitudes towards the union from strangers in public, Saudi daily Okaz reports.
The case was described as peculiar by the endowment department in Al Qatif in Saudi Arabia’s eastern province, according to Gulf News.
Towering over her new groom resulted in mockery and shocked looks she could no longer handle, she said.
Others defended her right to divorce the man, saying his height was not an issue which could be overcome with mere patience.
Using data collected from online dating adverts, they found that 13.5 per cent of the men wanted to date only women shorter than they are.
According to the findings, tall men married sooner in life, but were more at risk for divorce later on, as shorter men had more stable marriages.

Studies show women want a man who is taller than them because it conforms to society’s idea of what is normal and makes them feel protected.
