Matthew McConaughey has gone through many transformations for roles, most notably when he lost several stone for Dallas Buyers Club, but he is perhaps most unrecognisable in his latest film, Gold.

The Oscar victor was spotted on the set of his new movie Gold this weekend, but his six-pack abs were nowhere to be found. Instead, McConaughey looks to have packed on a few pounds to take on the part of Kenny Wells.
According to PEOPLE, the Oscar-winner looked unrecognizable in costume while filming in New York. To complete his look he was also holding a briefcase and a cigarette.
Working alongside a geologist, he ventures to the Indonesian jungle in search of gold.
Bryce Dallas Howard also stars in the Stephen Gaghan-directed film and the Jurassic World star was snapped kissing McConaughey on set.
Of course, it’s not the first time Matthew has radically transformed himself for an acting role.
For his next movie, Matthew is going in the other direction.
“I haven’t done anything like that in years so I haven’t really picked up a weight in four years”.

“Gold” will be distributed in the United States by Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s TWC-Dimension and is targeting a Fall 2016 release.
