Taking a dig at Pakistan, she said the world should oppose all countries which “finance, train, and support terror groups”.
On Wednesday, the first secretary in the permanent mission of India to the United Nations, Abhishek Singh had used the “right of reply” after Sharif’s speech to hit back at Pakistan over its “policies of breeding and sponsoring terrorists”.
The dossier, a set of three documents titled India’s interference and support to terrorism in Balochistan, FATA through TTP and in Karachi, was handed over to the Chief of Staff Susana Malcorra by Pakistan’s ambassador the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi. Nawaz Sharif said both Pakistan and India needed to adopt a balanced approach towards resolution of the issues and sooner the dialogue process starts, the better its results would be.
In the talks, India had wanted only to discuss terrorism-related issues.
“India remains open even today to engage Pakistan on outstanding issues in an atmosphere free of terrorism and violence”, he said. “Pakistani Prime Minister has done commendable job by reminding the UNO of its duties and responsibilities toward resolving Kashmir”, veteran Hurriyat leader Syed AliGeelani said.
Mrs. Swaraj said that the goal of these attacks is meant to destabilize India and “legitimize Pakistan’s illegal occupation of parts of…Jammu and Kashmir and its claim on the rest of it”.
Speaking of “the challenges that we face in our ties with Pakistan”, Swaraj referred to the terrorism threat from it and the impunity it grants terrorists like the matermind of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
He told the media that Pakistan has suffered the most in tackling terrorism and that the sacrifices made by Pakistan to restore global peace have earned recognition from around the world.
Earlier in his address at Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), he said that Pakistan’s security environment now becoming conducive for upward economic trajectory.
“India’s insistence on limiting the talks to a one-point agenda proves that it is neither interested nor serious in engaging in a genuine dialogue”. We have to understand that there can be no distinction between good and bad terrorists.
