“I gave D’haquille the chance to prove himself”.

San Jose State cornerback Andre Chachere (21) blocks a pass…
Auburn has dismissed wide receiver D’haquille Williams from the football team. Without Williams, the Auburn passing attack – which was already struggling this season – will have to lean more on seniors Ricardo Louis and Melvin Ray.
Gus Malzahn released a statement on Monday evening. “I am disappointed that it did not work out”. Before the season began, Williams had been suspended for unspecified disciplinary reasons, but he was reinstated in time for the opener against Louisville.
Last season when he came to the team as a JUCO transfer, he looked like one of the more promising young stars in college football, catching 45 passes for 730 yards and five touchdowns.
He was limited to just 12 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown in Auburn’s first five games this year.
With opportunities for scouts to see Williams perform on the field this fall now eliminated, and red flags bound to litter his draft profile, it’s safe to say Williams’ draft stock has plummeted.

With the Kentucky Wildcats set to host Auburn next week, this continues to look like a game United Kingdom has a very good shot of winning and may even be favored in, despite last week’s near setback to EKU.
