“The suspects’ plans was very detailed in nature, and included names of would-be victims, locations, methods in which the plan was to be carried out”, said Mele.

The plot was foiled on Wednesday after students alerted a teacher when they overheard three of the four discussing a plan to open fire on the school. “It is particularly unsettling when our most precious assets -which are our students, their teachers – are targets for violence”.

The teacher told school administrators immediately and the students were removed from class and police were called.

The suspects’ names were not released because they are juveniles, though officials said they were all male. People ask after investigators discovered detailed plans for a school massacre in a Californian school. The California state police also thanked students whose timely intervention may have helped prevent another mass shooting in one of the country’s educational institutions.

Tuolumne, where the school is located, is about 190 kilometres east of San Francisco.

Mele said after the arrests of the suspects, it is believed there is no further threat to the community. It is unclear though if the students were the bully or the bullied party who planned the revenge. “I think children today have a hard time trying to understand what reality is and what is fiction”.

A motive for the shooting plot at Summerville High School hasn’t been determined yet.

The students’ parents were notified and are cooperating in the investigation, he said.
