Kick hero Eriksen at double as Spurs continue unbeaten run

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced their starting line-up and substitutes to take on Welsh outfit Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon.

Christian Eriksen proved his worth to Tottenham Hotspur once again, as his two free-kick’s helped them come from behind twice to draw 2-2 away against Swansea City.

Speaking about Dier’s ability back in August, Pochettino said, “His skill is he can play in different positions in the pitch”.

“It’s not just about his free kicks though”.

We may only be four home league games into the season but we are already looking very hard to beat at home.

Eriksen believes Spurs can continue to build on their promising start to the season in Pochettino’s second campaign at White Hart Lane and says the open nature of the Premier League means Spurs can aim high this term.

Swansea had hardly broken out of their own half when they launched a stunning length-of-the-field move which ended with their first goal in open play for 310 minutes.

Shelvey’s foul on Dele Alli afforded Eriksen another opportunity to threaten from a deadball situation and he did not disappoint the travelling fans, curling an effort beyond former Arsenal shot-stopper Fabianski.

“They are top-six side with so many great players, but it could have gone either way”.

Eriksen nearly gave Spurs the lead moments later but the visitors were stunned when Kane put through his own net. Lukasz Fabianski proved equal to all Tottenham’s attacking, and to win the game Spurs needed Eriksen or Harry Kane to convert one of the 10 shots (7 to Eriksen; 3 to Kane) that fell their way.

“I’ve done it for many years but I haven’t really done it since I was injured – I think my practice was in the game because we had a lot of free-kicks”.

It has meant a consistent run in the first-team for the player, which will have done no end of good for his long-term development.

Eriksen narrowly missed out on a hat-trick as his low injury-time shot drifted wide, before Hugo Lloris went full stretch to tip Federico Fernandez’s header onto the bar as the hosts nearly won it at the death.

Harry Kane didn’t get among the goals against Monaco after he found the net v Manchester City but Swansea is a whole new question and Kane would hope to score again, maybe more than 1 as well.

“We were back to our best against Spurs, One of our strengths has been consistency and we must get back to that”.
