Sakho ‘like a caged lion’
Mamadou Sakho has become the first Liverpool player to speak publicly since Brendan Rodgers was sacked as Liverpool manager.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed that he received a congratulatory text message from club legend Steven Gerrard when he was named the skipper of the Reds for last month’s Europa League fixture against Bordeaux.
Sakho was recalled for the Europa League draw with Bordeaux, before surprisingly signing a new deal at Anfield days later.
Sakho was given the armband despite not featuring in his side’s first five games of the season but has been ever-present since the encounter.
“Let’s say that during the short period when I was not playing, I was like a little caged lion who has not fed for a while”, Sakho added.
Unfortunately for Romelu Lukaku it was the Belgian who was closest to the cage when Sakho released his inner beast on Sunday, with the two going nose to nose as the Merseyside derby boiled over.
And Kop star Emre Can admits he and his team-mates need to take responsibility for the axing of their former leader.
“And when you open the door, he charges”.
Who will be the next Liverpool manager?
The current Napoli stopper tweeted that he hoped to see “the Liverpool of old come back“.
But Reds defender reveals: “Steven is an example”.
“He often sends me little text messages like after my first match of the season in Bordeaux, [when I was] wearing the captain’s armband”, he said.
‘It’s always nice to receive such a message from a great player’.
“If I say “sounds (sic) lads”, do you know what that means?”, he asked the newspaper.

“It is his choice but of course the club needs to let him go, too”, he said.
